Chapter 55 Role Models to Learn From
Chapter 55 Role Models to Learn From
A gentle breeze stirred the white gauze curtains, and bright sunlight streamed into the room. On the messy bed, two bodies were wrapped together in a silk quilt.
Jenny Buss's eyelashes fluttered. The glaring sunlight made her open her eyes first. She glanced at the sleeping man next to her, then struggled to lift the covers and walk into the bathroom.
Turning on the showerhead, the water flow made her feel much more awake; her body felt like it was about to fall apart.
"What a man who doesn't know how to cherish women."
After a quick shower, I returned to the bedroom, supporting my back. Ernst was already awake and had turned on the TV.
Upon seeing Jenny Bass, Ernst raised an eyebrow, his expression full of provocation: "I told you, you can't do it."
Last night, I was planning to take a good look at the gift Hugh Hefner gave me.
Unexpectedly, after he finished showering, the doorbell rang, and the woman returned.
Ernst suggested playing mahjong, but he was met with a mocking look from the other party.
As the townspeople said, there isn't a single good person in the city.
We need to wipe out these capitalists.
"I was just not in a good mood last night, otherwise I would have made you feel inferior in no time."
Ernst chuckled, still quite stubborn; I didn't notice it last night.
He lifted a corner of the blanket and patted the spot beside the bed. "Want to lie down a little longer?"
Jenny swallowed hard, but her body betrayed her by taking two steps back.
The soul trembled, but the body protested.
When I went to the toilet just now, it was so smooth, it felt like I had taken a laxative.
"I have a maintenance appointment, but I'm in a hurry, so let's do it another time."
"Maintenance?" Ernst paused, a question mark appearing above his head. "Am I not enough?"
Jenny Buss rolled her eyes and offered an explanation.
Ernst then realized that there really were people who specialized in maintaining that area; he had thought it was just like in the movies.
I thought to myself, no wonder all the rich people are still so youthful and radiant; their money wasn't wasted.
No wonder this person doesn't look relaxed at all; it must be thanks to proper skincare.
"By the way, how about I be in Playboy again?"
The fox's tail has been revealed. How could such a scheming woman throw herself into his arms without any benefit to herself?
"Given Jerry Buss and Hugh Hefner's relationship, you probably don't need my help, right?"
Jeanie Buss smiled and said, "I'm not talking about those women's magazine pages, but about appearing in a magazine as the vice president of the Los Angeles Lakers, a powerful career woman."
The celebrity pages in Playboy magazine feature individuals who are all highly influential figures in the United States.
To be honest, Jenny Buss might not be up to that level, but given the relationship between the two families, it shouldn't be too difficult to accomplish.
Ernst was puzzled as to why the other party would contact him.
In an instant, a rumor struck my mind.
Some say that getting on the cover of Playboy is easy: either be famous or be good-looking.
The first possibility is that your fame can enhance the magazine's influence, and the magazine is practically begging you to publish it.
The second scenario is that you need the magazine's influence, which means you have to beg Hugh Hefner.
These were all beautiful women, and getting them published in the magazine was to satisfy one of Hefner's little quirks.
"No way? That old man is that weird?"
The moment Jenny nodded with an expressionless face, Ernst had the urge to immediately seek advice from Hugh Hefner.
You and that guy's father are like brothers who share the same underwear, and this is how you take care of your brother's daughter? You've even taken her to bed.
How old is he/she? Need to be put to sleep?
"For fame? Just for the Lakers' assistant general manager position?"
Jenny Bass sighed helplessly, revealing her vulnerability to Ernst for the first time.
"You don't understand. Being born into a large family brings its own set of constraints. There are some things I can't control."
Without saying much, Jenny Bass was already dressed.
"If you don't object, I'll take that as your agreement."
She gave him a farewell kiss, and a sweet smile returned to her face. "Congratulations, you've become the master of Playboy."
Last night, when Ernst said "You're dead," the entire audience fell silent.
"As long as Hugh Hefner is alive, Playboy will be the king of magazines of its kind, I don't deny that."
"But what happens after you die? You yourself have become a symbol of Playboy. After you pass away, how many readers' sentiments will crumble and they will turn to other magazines?"
"Believe me, only I can save it, only I can make Playboy even greater, surpassing its peak."
"So I think I've already paid a premium enough for this deal. When Playboy's market value exceeds one billion dollars, or two billion dollars, the value of the remaining shares you hold won't be any worse than it is now."
"In other words, you got a 2% stake in MGM Studios and $50 million in cash for free."
Hugh Hefner fell into deep thought, unable to refute Ernst's point of view.
He openly admitted to having slept with over two thousand women in his lifetime, yet no one seemed to find him objectionable. They believed he was just like that, a born playboy, a symbol in himself.
But what happens after I die?
Hugh Hefner was deep in thought. The room was eerily quiet, and everyone's eyes were fixed on his face, except for Ernst, who seemed confident of victory.
Ernst was very clear that he had hit the other party's sore spot.
The old man has four children: an eldest daughter and three sons. One son and one daughter are from his ex-wife, and the two younger sons are from his current wife, all of whom are under five years old.
The eldest son is a good-for-nothing, otherwise he wouldn't have handed the company over to his daughter to manage, but Christie is also not good at business.
Now that he's getting old, it's questionable whether he'll still be healthy once his two younger sons grow up. This is the main reason why Hugh Hefner agreed to meet with Ernst to have a talk.
He wanted to leave the Hefner family a way out, at least one that would ensure they would be financially secure.
Setting up a fund is one option, but MGM's shareholders clearly have a more imaginative approach.
"I need to think about it," the old man said, standing up and gesturing for the two women he had brought to come forward.
"This is the gift I trained; I hope you like it."
It's done. Although he didn't agree, Ernst was pretty sure it was basically done.
Hugh Hefner's maid was only given to two people in his lifetime.
The previous one was an actor, an actor sitting in the white house.
