Chapter 405 - 406: The Descent of the Demon God
Chapter 405 - 406: The Descent of the Demon God
Under the respectful guidance of two powerful members of the Dragon Clan, Aster Grant traversed the deep, shadowy mountain passage and arrived at the innermost core of Dragon Island, within the depths of the mountain’s belly.
There was no resplendent palace here, rather a naturally formed, exceedingly enormous domed cavern.
Embedded on the rock walls were Nightlight Crystal Stones emitting a gentle glow, casting a serene and solemn ambiance throughout the space.
At the end of the cavern, a towering figure stood with his back to the entrance, hands clasped behind him.
Aster Grant could clearly sense the shifting Power of Laws within the surrounding space, all naturally submitting and converging towards that figure.
"Dragon Emperor, Aster Grant has been brought here."
The leading Dragon Clan powerhouse kneeled on one knee, his voice filled with reverence.
"Hmm."
A calm response came from ahead, devoid of any discernible emotion.
The two Dragon Clan powerhouses bowed again and then silently and swiftly exited the cavern, leaving the space to Aster Grant and the Dragon Emperor.
The cavern fell into silence.
Aster Grant stood still, his gaze on the back of the Dragon Emperor, thoughts racing as he pondered how to begin speaking.
The disparity in strength between the Human Race and the Dragon Clan was akin to the difference between clouds and mud.
The Dragon Clan boasted hundreds of Totem Level powerhouses, not to mention the Dragon Emperor, a transcendent existence beyond Totem Level.
Whereas the Human Race, at best, could muster only a handful of Totem Level combatants.
This cooperation was nearly equivalent to unilateral support for the Dragon Clan.
What tangible benefits could they derive from this?
Just as Aster Grant was locked in inner turmoil, unable to organize his words, the Dragon Emperor slowly turned around.
His appearance wasn’t the imagined elder visage, but rather like that of a middle-aged man.
His golden eyes were as deep as the vast starry sky, seemingly able to pierce through all illusions of the world.
The Dragon Emperor’s gaze did not immediately settle on Aster Grant, but first looked towards something not far away...
A pile of shattered, dull transparent crystal remains on the ground.
His eyes revealed a trace of complex emotions that were difficult to conceal.
"Do you see those shattered crystals?"
Aster Grant followed his gaze and nodded: "I see them."
"That was Isabelle’s place of slumber. You must have already met her."
Upon hearing this, Aster Grant deduced that Isabelle was the Dragon Emperor’s daughter.
"Yes, Dragon Emperor! I had the good fortune to meet Miss Isabelle in Soltara, and she led us here to Dragon Island."
"Soltara... Time Spirit Ruins then..."
The Dragon Emperor repeated softly, a gleam of reminiscence flashing in his eyes.
After a while, he seemed to return from his lengthy memories.
"Age makes one prone to recalling memories, please forgive me."
"You flatter me, Dragon Emperor."
Aster Grant quickly said.
Facing such an unequaled presence at the pinnacle of Alternate Space power, he should maintain appropriate humility.
Yet, the Dragon Emperor waved his hand, signaling no need for formalities.
His gaze quietly fell on Aster Grant, directly stating his purpose:
"You have come here regarding the alliance between the Human Race and the Dragon Clan against the Demon Clan, correct."
Aster Grant felt slightly shocked yet unsurprised.
To be of the Dragon Emperor’s realm, discerning his thoughts would not be difficult.
He took a deep breath, readily admitted, and solemnly made his request:
"Your insight is clear, Dragon Emperor! I am aware of the weakness of the Human Race, and my request may come across as bold and beyond our capacity."
"Yet the Demon Clan is the common enemy of all living beings in Alternate Space; if the lips die, the teeth get cold."
"I earnestly implore the Dragon Emperor to grant the Human Race a chance, to promise an alliance between the two clans, to face an external enemy together!"
"The Human Race may be weak, but will give all efforts and never betray the alliance!"
He had lowered his stance significantly, prepared for a polite refusal or significant sacrifice.
However, the Dragon Emperor’s response was entirely unexpected.
There was almost no hesitation and no conditions placed.
"Agreed!"
"..."
Aster Grant was utterly taken aback, his mind briefly going blank.
He almost doubted whether he had heard correctly and instinctively repeated:
"You... you agree?"
Seeing his shocked expression, the Dragon Emperor showed a faint smile:
"Yes, I agree."
This... this was just agreed upon?
Such a major decision concerning the fate of both clans was settled so offhandedly?
No haggling, no additional conditions, it was so smoothly agreeable that it felt unreal to Aster Grant!
Just as his heart was filled with immense joy, ready to bow in gratitude, the Dragon Emperor held up his hand to stop him.
The Dragon Emperor’s gaze grew profound, as though penetrating the cavern’s rock wall, gazing into the unfathomably distant dimensions.
He shifted the focus of the conversation:
"There’s no need to say more about the cooperation!"
"Young man, don’t you wish to know more?"
"Want to know what the truth of this world really is?"
"Have you ever wondered, about the ten ancient Demon Gates sealing the pathways in Demon Domain, who established them? How have they lasted so many ages?"
"The Demon Clan does not originally belong to our Alternate Space; they come from the destructive and chaotic Demon Abyss."
"But how is it, that in our world, pathways to the Demon Abyss exist?"
...
These consecutive questions immediately cleared Aster Grant’s mind from the joy of successful alliance.
The Dragon Emperor stared at the pondering Aster Grant, his tone carrying a guiding profundity:
"Don’t you want to know the answers to these questions?"
Aster Grant raised his head and met the Dragon Emperor’s gaze, nodding resolutely:
"Yes! Please enlighten me, Dragon Emperor!"
...
Meanwhile.
Demon Domain.
Disaster finally erupted!
In the core of Demon Domain, the ten Demon Gates were completely shrouded by the thick Demonic Qi, becoming solid!
"Boom——!!!"
With a loud crash, the tenth Demon Gate...
The passage corresponding to the Tenth Demon God "Abyss"...
Was the first to reach the critical point!
The runes on the gate continually shattered, vanished!
"Crack... Boom!!!"
Ultimately, with a shattering sound that reverberated throughout Alternate Space, the tenth Demon Gate, fully opened!
The darkness behind the gate, like a bursting dam, surged forth!
In the center of that pure darkness where even the concepts of time and space seemed absent.
An indescribable figure slowly, step by step, emerged!
His arrival was itself akin to an ultimate rule!
The skies of Demon Domain shattered like fragile Lazuli the instant he stepped forth, revealing the twisted Void beyond!
The earth silently collapsed, perished beneath his feet!
The laws of all Alternate Space seemed to groan under unbearable strain at this moment!
A chilling, annihilating will instantaneously swept through Alternate Space, with Demon Domain as its heart!
Every corner and every living being, felt life’s inherent fear in their soul at that moment!
Demon God—Abyss, true form arrived!
He hovered silently above the shattered Demon Domain, as if savoring the "long-lost" realms.
"Finally back... stepping once more onto this land... truly, a nostalgic breath..."
...
Human Races’ territory.
The originally clear skies suddenly darkened without warning!
Not covered by clouds, but as if the light of the world was forcibly stripped away by some power!
"Why did the sky darken?!"
"It’s suffocating... I can’t breathe!"
"What’s happening?! Has the Demon Clan attacked?!"
Panic quickly spread through human cities.
Ordinary citizens felt a deep unease, as if an imminent catastrophe was about to strike.
The more powerful Beast Tamers, particularly those at Monarch Level and Totem Level, felt the terror more acutely!
In Baelgard, Zane Drake and Cavan Vero exiting their tent, almost simultaneously had drastic changes in expression.
They quickly looked skyward, their eyes filled with unprecedented fear!
