Chapter 400 Jing Tian Visits the Set
Chapter 400 Jing Tian Visits the Set
On June 10, the film crew moved to Xian Village in Guangzhou.
Xiancun is the last urban village in Guangzhou's CBD that hasn't been completely demolished. The gaps between the buildings are so narrow that you can only pass sideways, and overhead are dense security grilles and tangled electrical wires.
The film crew booked an entire old building that was slated for demolition.
Jing Tian arrived on June 12th.
The Toyota van stood out awkwardly among a bunch of equipment trucks and generator trucks with film crew passes on them, parked at the narrow entrance of Xiancun.
The car door opened, and Jing Tian jumped out, wearing a pair of white canvas shoes, light blue denim shorts that revealed two long, shapely, and fair legs, and a loose white T-shirt on her upper body. Her long hair was tied into a high ponytail, and she looked fresh and clean.
Her assistant scrambled out of the car, carrying two large bags filled with snacks and fruit.
Upon closer inspection, there were several large bags in the car, roughly the same size as the two large bags in the assistant's hands.
Jing Tian stood at the alley entrance and looked around. When she saw a group of people filming in the distance, her eyes lit up. She was about to walk over there when she was stopped by the production crew.
"Teacher, they're filming inside, please wait a moment."
"I'm here to see Brother Yibai."
Jing Tian stood on tiptoe to look inside and waved in Fu Yibai's direction.
The stagehand glanced in the direction of her gaze, hesitated for a moment, picked up the walkie-talkie and asked a couple of questions in a low voice, then stepped aside.
When Jing Tian entered the filming area, Fan Binbin had just finished filming a scene and was sitting on a folding chair next to the monitor, drinking water.
She saw Jing Tian walking from the alley entrance, raised her eyebrows slightly, put down the water bottle, and stood up.
"Tian Tian?"
"Sister Binbin!"
Jing Tian jogged over and grabbed Fan Binbin's arm, her voice carrying a childlike coquettishness.
"Long time no see! You've lost so much weight!"
"It's necessary for filming."
Fan Binbin looked her up and down.
"Summer vacation has started?"
"Yeah, I just finished my last exam yesterday, and I flew over to see you today."
Jing Tian tilted her head and looked at Fan Binbin's face.
"Did you come to see me? I'm too embarrassed to call you out on it."
Fan Binbin gently tapped her forehead.
Jing Tian playfully stuck out her tongue.
Fu Yibai walked over from the monitor.
"Tian Tian".
Jing Tian jumped away from Fan Binbin, ran to Fu Yibai, and looked up at him.
"Brother Yibai, I've come to visit the set!"
Fu Yibai reached out and ruffled her hair naturally.
"How did you end up here?"
I miss you.
Jing Tian spoke with conviction, then quickly added another sentence.
"Of course I miss Sister Binbin too."
Fan Binbin hummed softly beside him, unable to hide the smile in his eyes.
Fu Yibai asked Zhang Xinyu to arrange lunch, while he took Jing Tian for a walk around the film set.
Lunch was eaten under the crew's tent, with a few Cantonese stir-fries that Zhang Xinyu had bought from outside.
Jing Tian sat next to Fu Yibai, eating and talking about things at school.
Fan Binbin sat opposite him, occasionally interjecting with a word or a laugh, quiet and relaxed.
After lunch, the staff began packing up the equipment used for filming that afternoon.
Jing Tian put down her chopsticks, took out a blue-covered script from her bag, placed it on the table, and pushed it in front of Fu Yibai.
"Brother Yibai, can you take a look at this for me?"
Fu Yibai took the script; the cover had two large characters printed on it.
The Warring States Period
He turned to the first page, his eyes scanning the story outline.
Sun Bin and Pang Juan, Tian Ji's horse race, and the strategy of besieging Wei to rescue Zhao.
These familiar historical anecdotes were woven together by the screenwriter in an attempt to create an ancient epic about strategy and betrayal.
In the screenwriter's writing, the female protagonist, Tian Xi, is not only Tian Ji's daughter, but also has a romantic relationship with Sun Bin and an interaction with Pang Juan, thus connecting all the main male characters.
After reading the script, Fu Yibai remembered this terrible movie.
"The Warring States" is a historical epic with an investment of 1.5 million yuan, bringing together a star-studded cast from China, Japan, and South Korea, including veteran actors such as Sun Honglei and Wu Zhenyu.
Jing Tian plays the female lead, Tian Xi.
With such a production scale and key creative team, it was an absolutely top-tier project at the time.
As a result, the film was a box office flop after its release, with a total national box office of less than 80 million yuan, failing to recoup even half of the investment.
The word-of-mouth was even worse, with a Douban score that didn't even reach 4 points, and the comments section was full of negative reviews targeting Jing Tian.
These criticisms persisted for many years afterward, and every time Jing Tian had a new work released, people would bring up "The Warring States" to mock her.
"Who gave you this script?"
"Uncle Lu had it delivered to me, saying he wanted me to take a look and if I liked it, I could act in it."
Jing Tian rested her hands on the table, her chin on the back of her hands, and looked at him with bright eyes.
"Brother Yibai, what do you think?"
Fu Yibai opened his eyes and looked at the innocent and carefree face in front of him.
He couldn't just watch Jing Tian fall into this trap.
"Tian Tian, this script won't work."
Upon hearing this answer, Jing Tian's expression clearly showed disappointment.
