Chapter 316: The Magicless Guardian’s Items [2]

Nom!

Leon consumed the boss’s essence right then and there, feeling all of his stats increase across the board except for Spirit;

But though Leon knew he would lose 3,000 points in it from consuming this particular essence, it didn’t matter much to him in the grand scheme of things given how much he was gaining everywhere else.

Fwoosh! Ding!

[+5,000 Strength, +5,000 Agility, +5,000 Constitution, -3,000 Spirit.]

Leon felt his [Combat Power] grow significantly as he consumed the essence, a wide grin spreading across his face even though he had lost a small amount of Spirit in the process, because the trade-off was absolutely worth it in his mind.

He quickly moved to the equipment he had looted, which included both the [Magicless Swords] and the [Magicless Armor], wanting to inspect them more closely.

The swords were actually incredibly useful in his estimation, and they seemed to have no real penalty attached to using them, unlike the armor which would reduce Leon’s spirit so dramatically that he would not be able to cast any spell whatsoever, or at the very least would have an extremely hard time doing so.

Though as one might notice just by looking at the numbers, the [Magicless Armor]’s stats were absolutely heaven-defying in their sheer magnitude, and any warrior who did not use magic at all would kill for something exactly like this without any hesitation.

It was quite simply the best piece of equipment he had seen in this entire life, bar none, and that was saying something given everything he had already acquired along his journey.

’Equipments that have serious penalties attached to them tend to be the most rewarding in the long run,’ Leon thought to himself as he examined the armor carefully, ’As long as you can actually get past the penalty that is, and many people simply cannot.’

Leon stored the armor away in his [Storage Space] for later use, in case he wanted to sell it to someone who could actually make use of it, or perhaps even give it to a future companion who did not rely on magic the way he, Celeste and Emilia did.

And as for the swords, he decided to try and fuse them together right away, because the potential payoff was simply too good to ignore.

Since the guardian had four of them originally, Leon’s drop rate talent had allowed him to acquire all four at once, meaning he could potentially fuse them together into something even stronger than they already were!

Fwoosh!

He tried with the first two swords immediately as he initiated the fusion process, and then he waited with bated breath to see what would happen.

Beep!

[Enhancement failed.]

"...Damn," Leon muttered under his breath as he watched the two swords he had tried to fuse break apart and turn into tiny particles that faded away into nothingness, leaving him with only two remaining instead of the four he had started with.

Each individual sword was already better than the [Power Sword +3] he currently had equipped, so he knew he could not afford to waste the remaining ones carelessly.

But even then, the idea of improving this already amazing weapon even further was simply too good for him to ignore entirely, and so he steeled his nerves and tried again with the last two swords.

Ding!

[You have consumed two identical equipments... enhancement successful!]

"YES!" Leon laughed out loud with pure joy as he saw the success panel appear before his eyes.

The two swords immediately turned into particles that fused together seamlessly, creating something new and far more powerful than before.

[Magicless Sword +2 (Ancient): +50,000 Attack Power, +40,000 Strength, +30,000 Agility. Magic seems to drain itself when near this sword, it can cut through magic attacks much more easily than others.]

With rare and high-ranked items like this one, even a single level of enhancement could boost their power tremendously, and this sword was living proof of exactly that principle in action.

Leon moved his attention next to the [Magicless Guardian Trap Schematics] and the [Strength Lion Mask], both of which he had acquired from the loot pool as well.

Both of these items did not have much direct use to Leon in terms of combat power, but he felt like he would probably need them at some point in the future, especially the mask for social situations.

If he equipped the mask when talking to a race or NPCs that would usually ignore him or treat him poorly, there was definitely a chance for him to have a much higher success rate in negotiations and conversations.

As for the schematics, he believed that someone like Oasis, the fish-raced woman he had met in the forsaken city who was a dedicated craftmaster, would definitely be able to make excellent use of them given her skills.

’I will ask Violet about it later,’ Leon thought to himself, ’She said that she is still in contact with the others from that group, so I will be able to find out where Oasis is currently located.’

Leon then turned his gaze toward the two sub-talent scrolls that had dropped from the boss, both of which were S-Level enhancement ones and incredibly valuable as a result.

Unfortunately for him, all of Leon’s enhancement sub-talents were already at S-Level, and the odds of him actually successfully fusing these new ones together with his existing ones was so astronomically low that he believed doing so would be a complete waste of resources.

And so instead of using them himself, he turned toward Celeste, who had summoned Pyra and was currently playing with the little phoenix pet while waiting for him to finish his inventory management.

"Here," Leon said as he threw the S-Level [Supreme Agility Enhancement] scroll toward Celeste, "You already have an S-Level strength enhancement sub-talent from before, and Agility is the only one you are missing from the physical stats."

Both of her [Constitution] and [Spirit] sub-talents were currently sitting at A-Level, which was still very good, but she did not have any agility enhancement at all up to this point.

Celeste grabbed the scroll in her hand with a surprised expression, and she nodded at him gratefully, not bothering to ask if Leon was sure about giving it to her even though she was clearly thankful for the gift.

Fwoosh!

She poured her mana into the scroll immediately and the energy within it seeped inside of her body.

Ding!

[You have learned the S-Level Sub-Talent: "Supreme Agility Enhancement".]
