Chapter 824 - 88: Yicheng, Do You Think I’ll Go Blind? (Part 2)
When she saw Lei Yicheng’s firmly set jaw, she sighed softly, "Don’t be nervous. It’s just that my eyes are a bit sore. Closing them and resting for a while will be fine."
Yige herself wasn’t sure why her head would hurt when her eyes were in pain. At the same time, she felt a bit nauseous, broke out in a cold sweat, felt dizzy, and couldn’t walk properly.
This is actually easy to explain, since the nerves in the human body are closely connected, the nerves in the eyeball can pull on others, causing her current condition.
.........
Holding Yige in his arms, Lei Yicheng returned to her room, quickly took out medicine from the drawer, and poured a cup of warm water from the kettle on the table, "Open your mouth."
Yige lay her head on the table. Upon hearing his words, she slightly opened her mouth.
Lei Yicheng placed the medicine in her mouth, using one large hand to support her back and lift her up, bringing the cup of warm water to Yige’s lips, "Drink water."
Yige squinted painfully, opened her lips slightly, drank two sips of water, and swallowed the medicine.
Seeing her take the medicine, Lei Yicheng brought the cup back to her lips, "Drink a little more."
Yige shook her head.
Lei Yicheng pursed his lips, didn’t force her, placed the cup on the table, then lifted her gently, heading towards the wooden bed in the room.
At the bedside, Lei Yicheng gently placed Yige onto the not-so-soft bed, took the folded blanket nearby, covered her, and sat on the edge of the bed, holding one of her hands, "Just sleep for a while, I’m here with you."
Yige’s eyes only opened slightly, like a nearsighted person squinting, seeing more clearly.
Tang Yige looked at Lei Yicheng, "Yicheng, you’ve been here with me for three months now. You should go back."
She said "you," not "we."
Lei Yicheng frowned, "I’ll go back once you’re completely well."
Yige pursed her pale lips, hesitating for several seconds before saying, "If you’re worried about my eyes... they’re actually almost healed. As long as I don’t strain them and let them rest properly, taking medicine consistently every day, there’s no big issue.
If you’re, if you’re worried I might do something... that’s even less likely. You know me, there’s nothing that would make me undervalue my life.
So, you don’t have to stay here with me because you’re worried.
After all, in Z City, there are many things that need your attention. Your headquarters can’t be without you in charge."
Lei Yicheng raised an eyebrow, touched the corner of Yige’s eye, "Don’t mention this again. Close your eyes."
"Yicheng..."
"Yige, are you trying to see who can hold out longer with me?" Lei Yicheng stared at Tang Yige.
Tang Yige, "..."
Actually, both Lei Yicheng and Tang Yige are the stubborn, resilient type of people.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t like someone so much for so long.
Obediently, Yige sighed inwardly and said nothing more.
Lei Yicheng pushed her long hair behind her ears and said softly, "Sleep."
Tang Yige’s eyes did truly ache, so she didn’t insist and closed her eyes.
..........
When she woke up, the sky was already completely dark. The room was lit by just one lamp, shrouding the old-fashioned room in a dim glow.
Yige squinted lightly, pushed off the blanket, and got out of bed, walking with the borrowed cloth slippers from the temple, friction in the dim darkness towards the door.
Having stayed in this room for almost three months, she knew the layout and furnishings clearly. Even with her eyes closed, Yige could leave the room without bumping into anything.
Leaving the room, a breeze brought a scent of fresh tea.
Tang Yige couldn’t help but take a deep breath, the fresh air mixed with the aroma of tea brushing through her nose and lips, flowing into her entire body, giving her the feeling that she was undergoing a rebirth.
"Why are you just standing there? Come have tea."
In the courtyard, Lei Yicheng sat brewing tea, smiled at Yige standing at the door.
Yige raised her eyebrows, took another breath, holding the door frame with one hand, stepped out, and walked down the steps.
Though Lei Yicheng didn’t help Tang Yige, his deep gaze was fixed on Yige’s feet. Seeing each step firmly placed, his lightly pursed lips slowly relaxed.
Tang Yige stepped down the stairs, went to the small round table in the yard, sat on the oval stool beside it, and leaned close to the teapot, sniffing with her nose, "The tea smells so good."
"My brewing is good."
Lei Yicheng lifted the teapot, used tea to rinse the cup, then placed the cup on the table, pouring it with practiced ease like a tea master.
"Ha!"
Tang Yige chuckled, picked up the cup of tea he poured, "Your skills are just enough to show off in front of me."
"It’s enough!"
Lei Yicheng poured himself a cup too, smiled, clinked cups with Yige, then took a sip from the brown tea cup.
Seeing him like that, Tang Yige couldn’t help but laugh, "If your buddies see you like this, they’d surely criticize you for showing off."
"How dare they!"
Lei Yicheng said confidently!
Tang Yige shrugged, sipped the tea.
The tea tasted slightly astringent and bitter, but with a fragrant aftertaste, a slight sweetness following the bitterness.
"Good tea!"
Tang Yige said.
"Ha."
Tang Yige’s genuine compliment amused Lei Yicheng.
Tang Yige frowned, glanced at him, "What’s so funny?"
Lei Yicheng raised his thick brows, "Who’d have thought that the always drinking Tang Yige would someday enjoy tea and even think it’s good."
"Life has a myriad of flavors, taste as many as you can."
Tang Yige said calmly.
Lei Yicheng nodded, "Are you hungry?"
Tang Yige bit her lower lip, sounding a bit pitiful, "Actually, hunger woke me up!"
Lei Yicheng smiled, stood up, and reached out to rub Tang Yige’s head, "Wait here."
"Isn’t dinner time over already?" Tang Yige said.
"Don’t worry, I won’t let you starve."
Lei Yicheng laughed while walking ahead.
Yige watched his figure fade around the corner, her lightly pursed lips gradually lowered, her long lashes drooping, leaving her alone in the courtyard, looking unusually frail and solitary.
