Chapter 106 Great Love and Great Practice: The True Martial Bodhisattva of the North Pole, the True
Chapter 106 Great Love and Great Practice: The True Martial Bodhisattva of the North Pole, the True
Master Jiekong recited scriptures, yet he seemed somewhat lost about the future path of Buddhism.
Legend has it that before Buddha Shakyamuni attained Nirvana, Mara, the demon king who came to obstruct his path, prophesied that he would take 2,500 years to destroy the Buddha's teachings and Dharma.
In the Dharma-ending Age, demons and their offspring will enter the Buddha's temples, don robes, corrupt the Buddha's true teachings, spread demonic doctrines, and corrupt monks.
This is precisely the story from Master Jiekong's recitation of the Nirvana Sutra.
But according to Master Jiekong, the stories in Buddhist scriptures may become reality today.
In this era of peace and prosperity, the world is at peace, and all industries are thriving, which has led to the spread and flourishing of Buddhism.
But as the former abbot of Shaolin Temple, Master Jiekong, a monk with genuine spiritual practice, saw through the superficial prosperity and witnessed the changes taking place within Buddhism.
Because of their practice and adherence to precepts, Buddhist practitioners have not undergone significant changes, but such individuals are ultimately a minority.
The vast Buddhist community is ultimately composed of ordinary people, and because these ordinary people cannot cultivate qi and practice, they often cannot achieve unity of knowledge and action, and their practice remains superficial.
The principles in Buddhist scriptures are easy to understand, but their mysteries are far more profound than that.
Moreover, in this mortal world, unless one possesses great perseverance, one will inevitably be influenced by one's surroundings.
When there are enough fake practitioners, how many are truly practicing?
According to Master Jiekong, Buddhism is now facing the "Dharma-ending Age" as recorded in the scriptures.
He had previously come up with a plan regarding Bao Jing and Shang Xiao Zizai.
That is to properly teach this disciple who is talented, insightful, and has a good foundation, and to cultivate him into a human Arhat, so that he can inherit his mantle and continue the Buddhist tradition.
Although Xiao Zizai has flaws in his character and is bloodthirsty and murderous, if he can achieve complete enlightenment, let go of his own obsessions, and attain enlightenment, his destiny will be immeasurable.
He will at least surpass himself as his master.
Thinking of this, Master Jiekong, who was meditating with his eyes closed, couldn't help but frown. It's a pity that if attachments were so easy to let go of, they wouldn't have become a major tribulation for practitioners throughout history.
That day, the monk Baojing, engrossed in meditation before the Buddha, suddenly felt murderous. Even though Master Jiekong sacrificed his cultivation to convert him, it only served to fulfill the desires of Xiao Zizai, who had flaws in his character.
Master Jiekong had anticipated this outcome, for if enlightenment were so easily attained, it would be something beyond the reach of most.
A few days ago, on a whim, he learned of Quanzhen's plan through some means. He greatly admired the decisiveness of his old friends, so he thought of adding fuel to the fire and welcoming a foreign bodhisattva to his Buddhist sect.
What did you say? That Wudang kid is a Taoist?
Yes, but he can also be the "Great Love and Great Practice to Save All Beings and Bless All Beings" of Buddhism, the "True Martial Bodhisattva of the North Pole" who saves all beings, the "Black Tortoise Tathagata".
It's worth noting that Confucius, a Confucian scholar, is also known as the "Bodhisattva Child of Confucianism" in Buddhism.
It's just a matter of a statue, an altar, and a scripture; why make it so complicated?
Unfortunately, opportunities cannot be forced, and good fortune is rare.
Who would have thought that the Wudang youth had completed his mental journey this morning, completely catching Master Jiekong off guard.
Although the patriarch went to try his best to make amends, he was still a step too late, and the patriarch of the Three Demon Sect intercepted the deal.
Finally, the Wudang patriarch's departure meant that this incredible gamble was completely shut down, and no one was allowed to place any more bets.
"If you're slow at one step, you'll be slow at every step."
Master Jiekong's mind was suddenly stirred, as if a drop of water had fallen into his calm heart lake. The slight ripples stopped before they could spread, but they also made Master Jiekong lose his will to sit in meditation.
The old monk opened his eyes, his calm gaze fixed on the morning sunlight. "Amitabha," he said, "things happen by chance, and cannot be forced."
……
The Buddhist sect could only regret not having been able to add to their bet halfway through, while the three demonic sects, who had successfully added to their bet, were leisurely imparting their own path to enlightenment.
At the mountaintop, Lü Qian stood on a flying sword, his hands behind his back, dangling in mid-air, looking down at the smiling man with a slightly indifferent expression.
"Tu Junfang of the Three Demons Sect greets Fellow Daoist Lü."
The emaciated man seemed oblivious to Lü Qian's impolite gaze, and warmly performed a Taoist salute towards Lü Qian.
"Lu Qian of Wudang greets Fellow Daoist Tu of the Three Demons Sect."
Upon hearing that the other party referred to themselves as the Three Demons Sect rather than the Quanxing Sect, Lü Qian softened his gaze, but still maintained his indifferent demeanor.
Tu Junfang is a very complicated person in the eyes of Taoists.
On the one hand, he openly joined Quanxing as the successor of the Three Demon Sects, and on the other hand, he acted without restraint, making him infamous.
On the other hand, he joined Quanxing in order to complete the incomplete "Severing the Three Corpses" method within the sect, and wanted to observe the three corpses of sentient beings, thereby continuing the broken path for the "Three Demon Sect".
Although the name of the Three Demons Sect is sinister, it is a genuine branch of Taoism, and a prestigious and righteous sect with a long history. Its internal cultivation methods are also legitimate.
They usually hide in deep mountains and forests, in quiet and deserted places to cultivate themselves. During cultivation, they use secret methods to lure out various desires in their bodies, causing them to emerge and form the "Three Corpses".
The term "Three Corpses" originates from Taoism. Taoism believes that there are three corpses in the human body, also known as the Three Insects, Three Pengs, or Green Maiden, White Maiden, and Blood Maiden.
The corpse possessed a fine treasure, shaped like a wasp, which could gather and disperse at will;
The corpse in the middle tastes five flavors, resembles a green snake, and is the size of a wish-fulfilling creature;
The corpse was lustful, possessing the appearance of a beautiful woman, naturally alluring.
These three corpses are the concrete manifestations of the three desires of greed, anger, and ignorance within the human body, and belong to the yin nature of the body.
The Three Demons Sect seeks to sever the three corpses and attain a body free from desires and a pure mind.
They possess a unique method called "Severing the Three Corpses," which allows them to detach various distracting thoughts and desires from their bodies in order to better cultivate themselves.
Unfortunately, after the war, the Three Demons Sect's inheritance was incomplete, and the method of "Severing the Three Corpses" was lost. Tu Junfang spent half his life cultivating only to complete the sect's inheritance.
His ambiguous identity and behavior made people within the Taoist community have very complex feelings about him.
But none of this mattered to Lü Qian. As long as Tu Junfang dared to call himself Quanxing in front of him, he wouldn't mind using some means to interrogate him and find out the inheritance of the Three Demon Sect, and then give the sect a clean successor.
After all, the Taoist priest knew more than just some martial arts skills.
After Lü Qian returned the greeting, Tu Junfang visibly breathed a sigh of relief, then chuckled and pointed to the two prayer mats on the ground, inviting Lü Qian to sit down and discuss philosophy.
"The reason for inviting Fellow Daoist Lü here is for the sake of the lineage of my Three Demons Sect. It is thanks to Fellow Daoist Lü that I, an unworthy descendant, was able to meet the sect's founder."
At this point, Tu Junfang bowed to Lü Qian again to express his gratitude, and then continued with a serious expression.
"Our patriarch once said that Fellow Daoist Lü received the Heavenly Escape Sword Technique from Ancestor Lü, which allows him to sever his own three corpses and six thieves. The fact that our Three Demons Sect is currently unable to sever the three corpses is no longer a problem for Fellow Daoist Lü."
Lu Qian nodded. "I have already learned the Heavenly Escape Sword Technique. When Lu Zu was teaching the Daoist arts, he once demonstrated the Three Corpses and Six Thieves within myself. Moreover, as I used the sword technique, my Three Corpses and Six Thieves were gradually being destroyed."
A glint of envy flashed in Tu Junfang's eyes, but it quickly faded. "I guess when Lu Zu performed the Dharma, the three corpses you manifested were the three mentioned in the scriptures."
"A wasp's stinger, a green snake's mouth, and a beautiful lady's body."
"yes!"
"This is the great supernatural power of Lu Zu, but what Lu Qian and his brother saw at that time was not their own [Three Corpses True Form]."
Tu Junfang shook his head. "Everyone's desires are different, so the three corpses manifested by various desires are naturally different."
"Each person's 'three corpses' possess their own unique 'true nature'."
